DURING CLASS, EACH STUDENT WILL COMPLETE A UNIQUE PAINTING USING GAFFREY ART MATERIALS SPECIAL HEAVY TEXTURE ACRYLIC PAINT.
Two Ways to Learn
2.5 HOUR GROUP CLASS: $200 PER PERSON
During each lesson, students will complete a unique 12×16 painting using Gaffrey Art Materials Heavy Texture Acrylics.

Hello! I first learned to paint when I was 13 from my father, who was a decorative painter. At age 18 I went to Italy to learn Venetian Plaster. In 2022, I was Justin Gaffrey’s painting apprentice and during that time I fell in love with Justin’s Special Heavy Texture Acrylics. I also paint with Encaustic Wax Paint, which I make myself, following an ancient recipe. I’m an artist, but I am also a teacher. I care deeply about the experience I provide for my students. I pride myself on being able to build up my students confidence and guide them into creating art they didn’t believe was possible. When I’m not painting, I’m hanging out with my 8-year-old daughter. I also enjoy playing guitar, diving and surfing. I have a deep connection with the ocean, having been a scuba and freediving instructor for 9 years and surfed around the world.

No, we paint on cradled wooden panels, ready to hang.
You can pick up the paintings the next day, or have them shipped to you, or you can take them with you while they are still wet if you pack them carefully.
Stop saying you’re not an artist. All humans have the ability to create. Dan is a patient teacher and encourager and is most fulfilled when he is guiding his students through the barriers that are blocking their creativity. You think you’re not an artist? Come sling some paint with me for a couple of hours and then let’s reevaluate your stance. You’ll be surprised, and you’ll have a lot of fun.
There are several reasons. Our materials are more expensive. We use the special 3-D Heavy Texture Acrylics that are on the literal cutting edge of acrylic artist’s paint technology. They cost more than normal acrylic paints. We paint on cradled wooden panels instead of cheap canvas. The techniques you will learn in this class are unlike any art class you have ever taken before. This type of training with these materials is not available anywhere else. Nobody else teaches these techniques with this material.
